I don’t see that much of a difference between her gesture and Ki-tae’s (because he basically did put her in her situation). Ki Tae offering to pay her in today’s episode was so insulting, which I found to be out of character because he never bragged about his wealth before. But they’re not falling back on the poor girl/rich guy plotline from what I see.
Mom turns to go but Dad grabs her arm, crying that he’s lost everything so what good is love? Ki-tae didn’t even invite him to the wedding. Mom shakes him off, saying that’s what Ki-tae wanted, but turns back to throw him a pity invite. Jang-mi wants to know what was in her dad’s postcards to make Ki-tae so sure (he previously told her it was the sweetest love letter he ever read, hee) and grabs them from him.

And that’s the Hyun Hee we saw in episode 2 who stood up for her friend against her cowardly boyfriend… I may actually end up liking these people by the end of this drama. Well that’s the last thing we ever expected to come out of Jang-mi’s mouth. It’s entertaining to watch them essentially become each other though, because it’s evidence of how much they’ve influenced one another, for better or worse. Ki-tae has become a clingy stalking ex who can’t let Jang-mi suffer, and goes out of his way to meddle in her affairs to his own arterial detriment.
Jang-mi tells her dad to go to the hospital but he says that he won’t, since if her mom didn’t tell him she was sick it must mean she really hates him. He thinks his presence will only make her upset and she’ll feel worse. Jang-mi’s insistence that she’s unsure about marriage just makes Dad even angrier and he demands to know what Ki-tae did to make her uncertain. When Jang-mi asks what Dad ever did to give Mom assurance, it takes all the fight right out of him, but the news that Mom has cancer hits him even harder. Jang-mi asks why Ki-tae went to see her mom in the first place, and he says he was jealous that she was getting so much affection from his mother and he wanted the same from her mom.
The rumors spread, and soon his clinic has no patients. Aunt wonders if the family should step in, but Mom says he wants to live his own life and refuses to intervene. She threatens to shut him down with her power-blogger prowess, and he throws her out to go try.
